Therapeutic yoga 121s

My one-to-one work is about connection, and supporting you in re-connecting with your body, your breath, your emotions and thoughts, and awakening to your spiritual life.

Using science-based yoga techniques to support you with physical health conditions including fatigue and exhaustion, stress and anxiety, menstrual cycle problems and burnout, I faciliate your healing through breath and relaxation, regulating the nervous system, balancing the endocrine system and boosting the immune system. I predominantly use restorative yoga and yoga nidra as tools to soften and relax the body and mind. It is essential that we feel safe and grounded in our beings, no matter what may be happening in the world around us, before we try to “fix” anything or make big decisions.

I also use draw upon three traditions of yoga nidra, a form of guided meditation and relaxation, often with an emphasis on inviting in different physical sensations, emotions and beliefs. We can talk beforehand if there are any particular emotions or beliefs you'd like to work with. We then guide the body and mind into a receptive state, and then you start to explore how those emotions / beliefs feel in your body, and also what the opposites may be. This can be recorded and you can then practised as often as you like. It can be a useful way to connect with how you feel but in a more detached and observant way, and over time it becomes easier to notice when you are feeling an emotion, and respond to it

What a therapeutic yoga session looks like:

When you book your session you will be asked to fill in a consultation form. This will allow you to explain your reasons for booking the system and desired outcome.

This then allows me to plan our session (s) together. This could include restorative yoga, breathing practices, gentle strteches and yoga nidra. For women I often include menstrual cycle awareness techniques.

A session usually begins with a conversation recapping your desired outcomes. We then conduct the session and I allow time for integration at the end, with advice for self practice and notes for any subsequent sessions.

If you have booked a home visit then I bring equipment with me, although I will strongly recommend you purchase your own. That being said, I will also show you how to substitute household items for yoga equipment.

Remember, you can also book a discovery call before purchasing a session to be sure this is for you.

Pricing: £60 (90-120mins) includes provision of all yoga equipment and, if relevant, a recording of any yoga and a personalised class plan for you to use at home

Mel is genuinely passionate about the benefits of Yoga Nidra and generous in sharing it with others.

She was friendly and considerate, took time to make everyone comfortable, and explained the technique clearly. In addition to being incredibly relaxing, I was surprised to find I made some considerable shifts in thinking after just one session.

With her gentle guidance, I became aware of thought patterns such as anxiety and indecision and realised that these were a choice, and that thinking / acting differently was also a simple choice. Just allowing myself that head space made everything seem much clearer.

Give it a go and see what it can do for you!
