Join me for an online celebration and recognition of the Spring Equinox.
On Thursday (20th March), the sun went into Aries, the zodiac sign which symbolises courage, pioneering, new energy, and a fresh start. This marks the beginning of Spring, an often much-longed-for season in the northern hemisphere, with the promise of the return of the light and the fertility of the Earth re-emerging after the long deep hibernation of winter.
Aries is the sign of the warrior, and we can feel as though we want to leap into Spring, to embrace the reappearance of the sun and all it promises. We may even feel reckless or headstrong as the longing for the summer energy takes over us, but the meaning of Equinox is to find balance before we tip into the time of year when light overtakes dark.
Equinox is a day of equal light and dark, and so offers us an opportunity to explore the balance of light and dark within ourselves. By finding ways to bring more balance within ourselves we can bring about change and healing in our own lives, and in the world around us as we start to live with a new perspective and greater consciousness of who we are.
The Pagan/Celtic wheel shows an understanding of the holistic nature of life - nothing is isolated, the physical, mental and emotional are deeply connected, the yin and yang are intertwined. Making time to awaken your mind, body and soul at this time of year can help restore you, as well as finding more mindfulness to move into the next chapter of the year. I will also share a little menstrual cycle awareness, and how some of the themes of Spring relate to pre-ovulation, and how we can support this energy.
In this class we will explore bringing balance into our being with a gentle flow and restore - think moon salutations opening spine, hips and heart, lots of circling and spiralling the pelvis and spine, and energising yet grounding restorative yoga. This will be more dynamic than my Radically Restful Sunday class, but all are still welcome - Aries courage helps us to believe we can do more than we think we can!
After our yoga practice, we will spend some time in our virtual circle journaling on the themes of Spring Equinox. Journaling can help us tap into our intuitive, instinctive voice, and can also help ground us in practical ideas of how to move forward, and create more balance and ease.
