How much are the classes?
For prices and class pass options, see here.
I cannot afford to pay for yoga at the moment, or I am a key worker. Do you offer any discounts?
You might be interested in one of my class passes, which offer discounts for those of you wanting to practice regularly (even if just one class a week), see here. If money is a real issue for you at the moment, get in touch and I am happy to work something out for you, including offering free classes.
I don’t have much space in my home, can I still join in?
I used to live in a tiny flat, and the only space to squeeze my mat was between a coffee table and a wall! I could just around roll my mat, and still practice. There is always a way.
I am on MoveGB, can I still join the classes?
I am no longer offering classes through MoveGB.
What about all the yoga equipment you usually use in the studio?
A yoga mat is useful. If you have other yoga equipment, bring it along. If you don’t, get creative! Cushions can substitute blocks, scarfs can substitute belts, pillows can substitute bolsters and clean socks can substitute eye pillows.
How do I know what yoga equipment I need?
I will let you know in the email I send 15 minutes before class begins.
What is Zoom and how do I use it?
Zoom is a video conferencing tool. By setting up “meetings”, I am able to invite you to a meeting, and teach a class through my laptop. You can watch on your laptop or smartphone, anything that connects to the internet. You will need internet connection and a device, i.e. laptop.
I am nervous about practicing online - can you reassure me?
I completely understand! I was nervous too at first, but it is amazing how quickly something begins so familiar that we don’t even have to think about what we are doing. I recommend you download Zoom via their website or via your phone and spend a little bit of time playing with it so you build your confidence.
How do I tell you about injuries if I don’t want everyone else to heat?
There is a chat function on Zoom so if you need to speak with me privately you just click on ‘chat’, send to ‘Mel’ and then type in whatever you need to tell me.
Do I have to have my video on?
Not if you don’t want to. So far, the majority of people choose to keep their video on, but if you are comfortable turning it off, you are welcome to. You will still be able to see and hear me.
Is there a cut off time for joining an online class?
Yes - you must book at least 15 minutes before the class begins. This is to allow me time to prepare the email, set up the Zoom meeting, and send the email out.
What if I can’t hear or see you?
If there is a technical problem, it is likely to be at your own unless everyone is experiencing the problem. Make sure you are close enough to your device, and check your internet connection. You might try coming in and out of the meeting. Unfortunately if the problem is at your end, I am unable to help.
Will it be too noisy if everyone has their video on?
I will mute everyone once the class has begun - this will allow us to avoid hearing each other’s background noise. You can have your video on or off. You will still be able to hear me.
